Seasonal Pests in New Jersey

Each new season in New jersey brings a variety of new pests to deal with.  After the long cold winter, many insects emerge in the spring. Of course termites are the ones that are of the most concern to people, and cause the most damage to your home. The winged reproductives will swarm in the spring, and that will be your first clue that termites could be a problem at your home. Another wood destroying insect that will emerge in the spring are Carpenter bees.

Spring Pests

They will generally bore into the wood facia trim on the house causing damage if not treated. Ants will also emerge in the spring and begin to forage for food. Carpenter Ants can also do damage to your home, and will attack areas that have a moisture problem.

Summer

Summer will bring other pests that will be a nuisance. Bees, hornets, and yellow jackets will be in force building their nests. Fleas and ticks are another problem for homeowners, especially if you have pets. Of course you will also find your general insects, such as earwigs, millipedes, centipedes, and other surface crawling insects. Crickets will also emerge in the late summer through the fall.
